our history
Classic Optical Laboratories was founded
in Youngstown, Ohio in 1970 as a local laboratory supplying doctors
with RX lenses. Since then, we have grown to become one of the largest
independent optical laboratories in the United States. We are continually
recognized by Vision Monday as one of the Top 25 Independent
Labs.
Classic is proud to provide top-quality vision
eyewear to physicians, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), and
numerous state and federal government programs. We produce, under one
roof, over 1,500 pairs of eyeglasses a day.
Classic is owned by its founder and President,
Monte Friedkin, and his wife Skeets. Their daughter Dawn is Classic's
General Manager. The Classic "family" also extends to the more than
70 skilled, dedicated, and hard-working employees who have made Classic
one of the top high-volume optical labs in the country.
Classic has built its reputation by ensuring
quality, controlling cost, and always striving to serve our customers
better.
